2010 - Full Body Motion Tracking with Voodoo (http://voodootracking.sourceforge.net) using the Microsoft Kinect Sensor.

The connectors to the Kinect sensor will be released in the near future. They are NOT yet on SourceForge. In the current Version (2.4) only other sensors are plug and play.
When it is uploaded, feel free to enhance or use it!

What you see is a prototypic integration of the Kinect Sensor into Voodoo Tracking. It does neither use the full resolution of the depth-image (only 1/9 of all Points) nor any information from the color camera e.g. to track the hands. Voodoo should be capable of using both to improve performance.

Many thanks to the whole research team of the HIS!

  • No, there is no connection

  • It depends on how many people help improving. This system still has bugs and missing features, like e.g. angle constraints, hand and face detection, probabilistic tracking, performance problems with large point clouds.... In my opinion this is due to missing manpower. This system is much older than the Kinect tracker (whose developers certainly had a look at VooDoo while developing Kinect), but only a few people worked on it - not hundreds.

  • Super inaccurrate. Kinect 2.0 ftw

  • Does this Voodootracking have any connections to the Voodoo camera tracker of digilab? That's kinda confusing...

    Awesome vid btw ;)

  • avatar!!!

  • I still fail to understand exactly what Voodoo is meant for. Can it export a bvh mocap file to be used in 3dmodellers? Or have I came to the wrong place?

  • Will it take a long time to do tracking that's comparable in performance to the xbox? Xbox seems to be doing many more joints than this and is very fast even on its old PowerPC hardware. Also it seems to be able to deal with occlusion of joints pretty good.
