That's the lion of Judah. The flag, well, that 'white' bit is actually yellow, that's the Ethiopian flag. Sometimes black is included to allude to the Marcus Garvey movement, that had red, green and black. The colours may also represent things; Blood, Greenery and Gold of Africa.
The Ghanaian flag also has all these colours, including black.
The cross is self describing.
