Our Mom's Surprise 80th Birthday Party - Las Vegas, Nevada - 9-11-2009

For our Mom's 80th birthday, one of my sisters gave Mom a present of a trip to Las Vegas. My Mom invited me along and I invited my family (husband and one daughter were able to join us).

My Mom, sister, and my family took off from Chicago on September 11. What she didn't suspect was the fact that a surprise awaited her. For Mom's 70th birthday, we had a surprise birthday party at her house. We figured she would never suspect a Las Vegas surprise party.

One brother from Arizona and his wife and daughter, a sister from Georgia, and Mom's sister-in-law from Chicago came to Vegas to surprise her. (Two of our brothers could not make the trip due to personal reasons.)

After arrival at the resort, we decided we needed groceries -- so we made sure my Mom jointed them. We anticipated her every objection and my daughter and I walked them to the taxi and waved goodbye. As soon as the taxi left, text messages were sent for the "all clear." We finished decorating with our family members and waited for Mom's return.

One sister and I have a running joke that we are Mom's favorite... so notice our t-shirts.
