This Kendo clip is from Japan Public Broadcasting's documentary on " A Human's reaction ablitiy".The show includeded a short track start,Pro Baseball batter and Light weight Boxcer as well.
Interest thing about the show was that former studies suggested that Human
can not react no faster than 0.2 second limted bb the speed of electric pulse running through eye - frontal cortex brain - the body muscle..But, new sport analysis studis found
some athletes could react in less than 0.2 second.
Mr. Tanakanabe had much better reactive ability than Mr. Teramoto's. But,
he could not catch up Teramoto's Men already released before his.
Takanabe mentioned in his interview later that" He froze for a moment when
Teramoto change his move from aiming DO to MEM". This split second frozen
moment made his defeat. The narration concluded the segment stating that
" Takanabe won in reactive superiority, but Teramoto won in Kendo".

two strong capable people hit each other in the head with a very sharp, heavy sword. are you telling me that because one person hit the other person a split second faster that the other persons sword and arm would suddenly freeze a fraction of an inch from the other person's head???? Even if he died, that doesn't mean that the sword would suddenly loose all physical momentum one tenth of an inch from the other person's head! Did you even WATCH the video? and are you really that stupid? wow

Yes, 2nd law would apply, but the sword no longer has the force of the swordsman's arm behind it, therefore the only force is the weight of the sword. Unless the sword's very heavy or if the sword's path of motion continues, it would be difficult to kill the other person.

Momentum would continue, however the force behind the sword would stop instantly. Also, being struck top down would mean you'll be forced downwards. If you still managed to strike your opponent despite being struck down, it would be a very very lucky strike.

seriously, the first guy could be dead, but the momentum alone would have killed the second guy. So basic, yet, such stubborn lack of intelligence. :)

Y'know that kendo though a sport has the basics of striking and composure. it has 4 places where you score points wrist, chest , throat, and head. I think you are still following their methods even if you say you wont.

sorry i'm not convinced no proof no validation no truth. Exactly even if you scour Japanese history one gutted the other guy one hacked the other guys head or one had a sever head injury one had hes head hacked like a melon thats just a bout it no 2 instant death.

Physical momentum would carry the sword along the same path it takes 80milliseconds for the impulse from the brain to reach the wrist, then we factor in the fact that there is a delay between brain getting hit and the loss of signal, which for easy numbers we'll say 10ms (not even close to actual value, but easy to use for the concept), so 0.009s = 9ms so the 2nd guy hit the first 81ms "BEFORE" his body even realised he's dead, and even if it was instant newtons 2nd law still applies

true sword duels never end in draws let alone in both combatants striking each other, to allow yourself to be injured to kill your opponent is extremely foolish and no Kenjutsu Ryuha would ever teach such nonsense. Kenjutsu teachs avoidence proper parrying (something kendo has no idea how to do) and actually how to use every part of the katana as a weapon, such as the handle and its pummel (granted not a pummel but works like one for bashing). Thrusting is even made use of in kenjutsu.

Not always "Go find a proof of real sword matches ending in an actual draw only draw in actual sword fights always end in one dead and one badly injured." as a kenjutsu practitioner myself, of the Yagyu shinkage-ryu we are taught to completely avoid the attack and never to allow a duel to end in a "Draw" as in kenjutsu you are to kill your enemy. Kendo is a sport and has nothing to do with real japanese sword fighting. Ken=sword, jutsu=technique. Kendo is not this. Kendo is ken=sword, do=way
