In 48 Hours, Congress Must Choose Between Meeting the Needs of America's Children or Not. Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senator Orrin Hatch were joined by singer Paul Simon, Families USA, Easter Seals, and other advocates at a news conference this morning to urge Members of Congress to override the President's veto of the Children's Health Insurance Program.

  • Well maybe because when our country was falling into pieces thanks to the articles of confederation they had bigger problems to solve. Socialized medicine no matter how inadequate is better than no medicine.

  • About other comments to rights, then why didn't our founding fathers make health care a right? I don't see it in our constitution?

  • you socialize and educate staff to manage it properly, there is nothing hard about it

  • Everyone agrees here that we want all Americans to be healthy, strong, and be able to have care on demand.

Democrats believe that the best way is to socialize the system and have the government run it.

Republicans want to keep the private market flourishing because as we have seen in other countries, socialized medicine isn't what it seems to be.

Then the question is who is better to use our tax dollars in our nation, the consumers or the government.

  • Regardless of how good you think your heath system is, if your children are sick and dieing, if they grow up unhealthy, then that becomes a refection of the future nation you will have.

  • uhm it isn't. Do you research

  • Health care is a right, and everyone has access to it already. Socialized medicine isn't the way to go. Look at Britain and Canada with their systems. Tell me that the United States isn't the best in the nation for Health Care.

  • well according to the hierarchy of needs, food is needed much more than healthcare...does that mean that the government should buy your food and everyone else's food in America too?

  • Health care is a human right. It should be available to everyone.
