All the real original punks had long hair. Look at the Stooges, MC5, Dictators, Ramones and the Dolls. The punks invented the spikey short haircut thing as a fashion statement years after the music (the really radical shift in culture) had already occurred.

@anthonynewsome Comments like this are so cliche. Some kids are doing interesting things with rock today just as some kids were doing interesting things with rock in the 70's. Punk was a subculture that wasn't that popular, as chart lists show for both the UK and USA in the late 70's. It is only with time that it took cult status, and now everyone and their mother's mother claims to have been a part of it. Most youths in the 70's liked the same old bland crap.

the 70's just had a collection of individuals being individual. the majority of youth today doesn't want to be original. they want to follow a movement. if you want a certain reality, you can't expect someone else to create it for you. DIY FOR LIFE.
