There are two types of licenses which allow IP cameras to be connected to OpenEye recorders; hybrid channel conversion licenses and NVR channel expansion licenses.
Hybrid conversion licenses are only available for OpenEye HVRs and convert an existing analog channel to hybrid, allowing it to be used with either an analog OR an IP camera. All HVRs ship with a minimum of 4 hybrid channels standard; the remaining analog channels can be converted to hybrid by purchasing hybrid channel conversions with the initial order or as a field upgrade when needed. Hybrid channel conversions are the optimal solution for installations with a mix of both analog and IP cameras, and provide an easy and user friendly way to to add IP video without needing to purchase a new recorder.
NVR channel expansions are available for all OpenEye HVRs and NVRs and add a new channel to the recorder that can be used exclusively for IP cameras. Channels can continue to be added until the maximum supported number for that recorder has been reached. Consult the OpenEye web site or spec sheet for that model to determine the maximum number of supported channels.
NVR channel expansion requires the additional step of adding the new channels to the software before the license for those new channels can be applied.
