No doubt the saddest day in Hong Kong history, I wish I were there that day...the British Hong Kong will live in my heart forever...
-
14 years today and tomorrow - China still held HK firmly and do not let it go!
I wonder what Chief executive would say tomorrow SAR Day - HK people are happy with China or were they? Propaganda maybe? He would say many HK people now accept Chinese rule cos he reckon HK is now loyal to China. cos HK is quiet for 14 years (except protest marches which are not enough to change anything) Maybe not? If he would say that - would HK people happy with China?

@paolocabling That's right cos China said it is Chinese sovereignty terrority stolen by the British and she wants it back. They want to make sure China doesn't lose any of her terrorities again.
Now they wants some more back - one island that was taken by Japan and some other small islands in South China Sea - Almost much like Nazi Germany grabbed Poland and Czechoslovakia.
-
@DavBlc7 That's too bad!

@paolocabling Afraid so - China would not let British take HK or allows Independence for HK. Under the 1984 treaty signed with China, Britain promised not to take HK back nor encourage independence for HK.
China also made law forbids any independence bids after Taiwan made threats to break away from China some years ago. The PLA had orders to stop any uprisings for independence should it occurs. HKP & PLA also had orders to arrest anyone likely to start uprisings.

Let Hong Kong return to the British. I don't want HK to be in the Communist PRC!

此日之後,香港玩完。。。

I don't think China will let Hong Kong go even for either go back to Britain or go independence.
They still have powerful armed forces and still also have nuclear power. they use money to make the armed forces stronger.
Hong Kongers will feel it would be better to give up protests and accept Chinese rule if they don't want to fight with the powerful Chinese armed forces.
Britain will also give up on HK cos they want China to be trading partner not to fight them.

The Highland Cathedral tribute was lovely. Governor Patten's favourite tune.
