Why the ass does the SWAT soldiers use the original M16... Those things are so outdated

M16's are good for longer ranges. Same calibre as the M4 but I know a lot of guys have said they'd rather use the M16 in firefights where range is important because of it's longer barrel. My guess though that the reason they might be using them in the matrix is 'cause the Agents are assholes and don't want to pay the security staff what they're worth by saving money on M4's, or maybe they want swat guys with longer ranged rifles if the building is attacked by incoming helicopters

I love how they never bother reloading. They just throw away their guns and produce a set out of nowhere.

What I don't understand is why Neo finds it necessary to bring 2 mp5k's, 2 skorpians, 2 micro uzi's and atleast 4 pairs of beretta's to a gunfight against useless lobby gaurds then to just bring a couple of firearms with spare ammunition like trinity decided to?

Remember what Morpheus told Neo earlier: "Most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. This includes the rent-a-cops, who, far from being innocent, were essentially the building's first—however pathetic—line of defense against attack.
