best way is to keep a quarter note ostinato on the hi-hat. 1 2 3 4. play two phrases -
first, play a 16th note single stroke roll on the snare. 1 e + a 2 e + etc , keeping LF quarter notes going. no bass drum
then on the 2nd bar of phrase play this-
keep the LF going quarter notes, but play rh B lh B rh B lh B rh B lh B rh B lh B
B = bass drum
eventually as you progress you start adding different things with the hands - instead of R b L b, add unison hands, or flams etc
