Song: The Fatal Wound
Artist: Switchfoot
Record: Nothing Is Sound
Year: 2005

Lyrics:

I am the crisis, I am the bitter end
I'm gonna gun this down
I am divided, I am razorette
There is no easy now

Son of sorrow, staring down forever
With an aching view
Disenchanted, let's go down together
With the fatal wound

This is the real thing
No rubber bullets now
This is the final bow
My breath avoids me
My chest is in my head
My stomach's upside down, down

Son of sorrow, staring down forever
With an aching view
Disenchanted, let's go down together
With the fatal wound (x3)

  • Amazing song

  • @crazycookie76 out of touch, tired of something, to say you were disenchanted with the world would mean you just can't relate and tired of how things are going.

  • what does disenchanted mean??

  • @SwitchfootR0CKS What are your top three by them then? Its a really deep song and some people don't enjoy that and thats perfectly fine but for me its number2 out of 3 favorite by them

  • 3 people thought this was too gruesome.

  • just because we are christians doens't mean that we don't go through the same world. we deal with break ups, with death, we deal with the pits and valleys of life. we deal with the same problems the world does. so of course music can be made for christians and non christians to gain insite from. the difference as christian we should have is hope at the end of the day we hope we believe in something better. In a God that loves and wants better for us. switchfoot is above all a band of hope

  • @HayleyDawnluvsyhuu2x every member is christian though they dont consider themselves a christian band, look up some of jon foremans solo songs, and some interviews on jesus he does or some on our world

  • and it's there is no easing out

  • Well, in first place they're not a christian band, as Jon Foreman said himself. Most of their songs are secular, but can be interpreted in more then a way. For me, this song is metaphorical, and represents a crucial moment or decision in someone's life. The fatal wound could be a consequence, and probably not representing death, although using the word fatal...

  • i thought switchfoot were a christian band? just wondering, what is this song about exactly? it sounds a bit.. kind of like it's about suicide? :S
