I hate dispensationalism. I wasted a ton of time in the late 80's and early 90's because of this crap! I actually didn't go to college until I was 24 because I thought it would be a waste of time because I thought Jesus was coming back in the mid 90's because Hal Lindsey had this chart showing Jesus was coming back in 1993.
Wrong again. This is getting to be a bad habit with this guy.
Verse 5 and 7 of Matthew 24 will tell you he's speaking to a diiferent group then the apostles. Many did not come in Christ's name and nations weren't rising against nations before the second temple was destroyed.
So you think that right after it says: "And Jesus answered and said to THEM ..." (v.4) Jesus suddenly shifts and starts talking to a 21st century audience in verse 5?
You must be reading from a different Bible. Respectfully, vs. 5 & 7 do not tell me that he's speaking to a different group. I could agree that he's speaking ABOUT another group but not TO another.
What Gary says here is crucially important in other passages as well. In John %:18 the Jews claim Jesus "said also that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God." The Bible is a Jewish book in that unless we look at it in context from the viewpoint of the people who heard it preached to them we will not fully grasp the significance or meaning of it. John 5:18 is an excellent example. The Watchtower shrugs it off by saying "that was the Jews' opinion."Audience relevance matters.RLJ

Hermeneutical gymnastics.
