jordie0bogart - When did the human body become one huge tooth? Fluoride compounds negatively impact every organ system in the body, even teeth. It damages teeth with dental fluorosis. Its an endocrine distruptor. It displacees iodine from the iodine receptors in the thyroid gland. Its a neurotoxin. It is a general protoplasmic poison. A pesticide. And it destroys critical enzymes in the body. Papers on PubMed even link fluoride to Autism which now effects one in 50 children in the USA.

jordie0bogart - Artificially added inorganic fluoride is much more damaging to living tissue (not to mention corrosive to pipes) than organic, naturally occurring "calcium fluoride". And when measuring only the absolute levels of the fluoride anion, studies end up comparing apples to oranges. Furthermore, treating one body system (teeth) at the expense of all other body systems like the brain & thyroid gland is nothing short of insanity. Where's the peer-reviewed SAFETY studies?

Sounds like you and Doc Smith believe the only source of fluoride is in the tap water. Fluoride is even in the polluted air you breathe. Its now contaminated all the foods and beverages in America. But all you are able to focus on is the fluoride in tap water. You act as though if it isn't added to the tap water, you are somehow deprived of fluoride. The truth is, you can't escape it. Its everywhere. Its a pollutant. A contaminant. And you have no clue how much fluoride you ingest.

I'm all for peer-review, but that has already been done. A prediction was made by doc Smith and now it is happening. Stay tuned....one day cities will go back to fluoridating the water because the grown-up children with bad teeth won't want their children to suffer the same thing. It's not over yet.

But this said Dr. Smith doesn't have a peer-reviewed study to base his claims on? Does Dr. Smith do lab work on his patients to determine the levels of fluoride in his patients body before recommending more? Or does he simply count cavities? You can't determine the levels of fluoride in the body by counting cavities. Its unscientific. It might pass as psuedo-science though.

I'm not the person making the claim, the dentists in Calgary are. Dr. Smith, a dentist of 42 years, predicted a rise in cavities within one year of fluoride removal from the water supply and he was of course, right on.

He was also a dentist before fluoride addition and said there was less cavities afterwards.

Calgary is recent. Google it, find Dr. Smith there & argue with him.

Given all the fluoride-based pesticides used on foods in the USA, why are cities even fluoridating tap water? Fluoride is used in much higher amounts as a pesticide on foods than is used in tap water.

Fluoride-based pesticides used on foods include:

Cryolite

Sodium Fluoride

Sulfuryl Fluoride

Fluoride bioaccumulates in the body from ALL sources regardless of the amount maintained in tap water. What was dose of fluoride today? How did you measure that dose?

I can't answer that question. Exactly what are you basing this on? Do you have some kind of peer-reviewed study you can cite proving this claim?

Your claim about Calgary doesn't sound consistant with other studies I've read and previously mentioned about fluoridated water.

I'm still waiting for the answer on why cavities are on the increase in Calgary AB one year after the fluoride was removed from the water supply.

Of course TOO MUCH fluoride is bad for your health! uh, duh? Did you even understand my comments? I don't know of anyone that has acquired bad health by my city's formerly fluoridated water. That's over 200,000 people across 50 years +

Really? "Scientific b.s."? Sounds like you prefer pseudo-science instead of science. You just don't get it. Fluoride is in everything you eat or drink if you live in the USA. Its in pesticides used on your foods in much higher amounts than is allowed in tap water. It bioaccumulates in the body like lead The rate of dental fluorosis in the USA among adolescents proves the population is getting TOO MUCH fluoride. And dental fluorosis is dental damage. What was your dosage of fluoride today?

It's people like you, who get voted into city councils that then make decisions. Those with the loudest mouths get noticed the most, even if what they are saying is scientific b.s.

People like YOU, have made the very UN scientific decision to delete fluoride from my water supply. You have yet to address the Calgary issue.

Cavity prevention is a multi-faceted event. Fluoride alone wont' stop them, no dentist anywhere ever said it would. However, Calgary is proving how vital it really is.
