This is a guide of how NOT to stick vinyl on the side of a tanker truck. The time lapse video gives no indication of the frustration and trouble I had with this. You know it's bad when your wife gets tired of your crap and tells you to "Do it yourself then". halfway through the stick. The roundness of the tank gave me tremendous trouble, but it all looked really good in the end.

On the other side, I hinged it on the top, used the Rapid Tac liberally and it worked beautifully. When on smooth, very few bubbles and looked awesome.

  • NEVER do this kind of install during WINDY conditions.

  • 2 words of future advise Soapy Water. Does wonders!

  • I actually tried it on a smaller area without app tape and didn't have good luck... I was using Oracal 951 which is extremely thin and easy to wrinkle without the app tape... if it had been calendared or even a little thicker cast vinyl, it may have worked without the tape, but 951 was a little hard to work with... it did really look nice after it was done though. Oracal 951 is a good product.

  • Why did you use application tape if you are just applying a black vinyl??? U could have used a felt and a felt tipped squeege. Could have saved the App TAPE... Just a thought :))
