When Bill Clinton ran for president, his campaign slogan was "It's the economy stupid!!!" But, now he argues that it's OK for Hillary's supporters to vote for McCain/Palin just because Palin is a woman, even if it's against their economic interests.

Regarding Bill Clinton's use of the "It's the economy stupid!" slogan, see:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It%27s_the_economy_stupid

"It's the economy stupid!" was also Hillary Clinton's campaign strategy in the primaries. See:

While even avowed McCain and former Palin supporters are saying that Sarah Palin is wholly unqualified to be a vice presidential candidate for a major party, Bill Clinton has been going out of his way to praise Sarah Palin. In the New York Times article, "Bill Clinton's Return Poses a Test of Party Loyalty", September 25, 2008, Paul Vitello reported, as follows:

"Mr. Clinton also went out of his way to praise Mr. McCain's running mate, Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska. 'I come from Arkansas,' he told reporters, 'I get why she's hot out there.' As comfortable as Mr. Clinton is in saying, 'I like John McCain,' and 'I like Sarah Palin,' no one seems to have heard him say the same for Mr. Obama."

See: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/26/us/politics/26clinton.html

Since it is well known that Sarah Palin may be drawing supporters of Hillary Clinton to the McCain & Palin ticket, and that she may have been chosen for that very purpose: the Democrats had every right to expect the Clintons to step up, and explain why it makes no sense for Hillary's supporters to defect to the McCain & Palin ticket. Since Hillary and Bill Clinton claim that they are supporting Obama & Biden, and claim that they are campaigning for the Democratic ticket, that's the least that the Clintons should have done.

But, instead of doing so, Bill Clinton has done a string of television appearances, in which he has had nothing but praise for Sarah Palin. In fact, on the View (a day time show with a large female demographic), Bill Clinton appeared on the show on September 22, 2008, and actually made the case for why it's perfectly OK for Hillary's supporters to vote for the McCain & Palin ticket simply because Palin is a woman, even if it's against their own economic interests!

In an interview with Maria Bartiromo, Bill Clinton grasped at straws to praise Palin. He even went so far as to claim that Palin had asserted that "I'm not going to impose this on you", referring to her right wing ideology, when her record shows the exact opposite.

When you look at the appearances together, taking into account that Palin is wholly unqualified (as even McCain and former Palin supporters are now admitting), and that Palin was probably chosen, at least in part, to draw Hillary Clinton's supporters: you can't help but conclude that Bill Clinton is actually campaigning for Sarah Palin.

The fact that Bill Clinton occasionally praises Obama does not undo the damage that he's done. It's now widely accepted that he's not sincere. Even Saturday Night Live has been poking fun at Bill Clinton's insincere support for Obama.

  • Bill said the finanial implosion we have started at FannieMae & FreddieMac is the Democrats respo0nsibility. From 2003 to 2006 Frank, Dodd and the Black Caucus et al; said Mae & Mac were just fine as Republicans and McCain tried to bring financial control to its run away policies under Raines and Jim Johnson. They blocked legislation on Party lines 100% and NOW they say it is Bush's fault. Unqualified borrowers, under the Fairness doctrine, caused this mess and the Democrats store millions!

  • More importantly, the problems at Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac are more of a symptom than the cause of the financial problems because neither of those institutions purchased SUB-PRIME loans. They only purchased PRIME mortgages.

But, I don't disagree with you that the Democrats share responsibility regarding not properly regulating those institutions.

  • Turn on CSPAN right now and watch Waxman quiver as he tries to cover up the root problem, Mae & Mac, and the criminals who stole, used fraud, cooked the books and protected their cronies (still). Subprime was protected by the same Democrat Cronies in Congress and Mae&Mac who got low interet rate loans from Countrywide at the expense of the country - graft, corruption, lies and pigging out at the taxpayers expense.

  • There is a tremendous amount of corruption. And, Congress passed, and the President signed, a bail out plan which will funnel over 800 billion dollars of taxpayers' money to the same crooks. And, the stock market today is taking a dive, nonetheless, partly due to Europe crashing, but also because of a lack of confidence in the bail out plan.

But, the way I see it, the Democrats are a step in the right direction. If it were up to the Republicans, we would have lost social security too.

  • LOL Bill Clinton is so lying ,he knows she's completely incompetent and anything he can say to make her a republican choice makes his party the winner ,he's shrewd that one is

  • Palin was appointed for a novelty factor. It backfired in spectacular way. She is so underqualified it's unreal I bet the GOP were pissed when that brawd was hired!!

  • love Bills smile while talking about Palin! Haha

  • Wolf is such a pussy. Cafferty should have broken his jaw.

  • Why is it that when a Republican does something its twice as bad as when a democrat does it.

Had Bush been poking the mouth of some chubby intern would we have been saying "lets move on" no we wouldnt.

Bil Clinton HAD the affair but that doesnt mean he was a bad President.

  • President Clinton was a great president!

  • What`s your point with bashing president Clinton. Clinton campaigned for Obama, and helped him win Florida. Hillary is now the secretary of state. And you had to bring up the Lewinsky scandal too. That`s LAME. Every rightminded democrat should be mad as hell over the treatment president Clinton recieved from the right winger in the 90`s, Democrats like you make me sick. You`re siding with the right winger. You`re a disgrace!

  • This video is asinine. No where within it does President Clinton endorse or say that Palin is a good choice for VP. He is defending a persons motives to vote for her and their rights in doing so. He is talking about psychology and philosophy, not politics. No betrayal whatsoever; you act as if he is saying, "If you are a woman vote for McCain/Palin, disregard any economic, political, social or moral views you might have regarding the election. Palin is a woman like you VOTE FOR HER."

  • If you want a betrayal to the Democratic Party, look at Joe Lieberman.

He CAMPAIGNED with McCain and Palin, for God's sake!

I second etg's opinion, by the way. People who vote on "values" are pretty much shitting on people who need to EAT.

  • Bill, how can you support her, you went to Oxford, she went to HarFurd
