Lots of black players are protesting against this acquisition because of Rush's openly racist remarks. Some players say he should not be owner and the would not play for him. Smith contends that they are liars and that doesn't matter because the NFL is all about money

Rush's racist label is based on context and nothing more. If Rush had said anything blatantly racist in his 20 years of broadcasting, he would have been out by now. I think Steven A. Smith is absolutely dead-on. These guys do as they are told, and unlike our athletes of the 60's, are almost COMPLETELY devoid of social consciousness, let alone Black consciousness.

I think Stephen is wrong on this issue. A number of NFL players are socially conscience and would not work for a racist like Rush. Many had to endure the likes of Rush back in the 60s, but they are certainly not willing to place themselves back under the thumbs of a racist owner that will not have their best interest in mind. Stephen needs to rethink his opinion.
