This song was composed by Erykah,James Poyser and Vikter Duplaix and performed by the SoulQuarians dreamteam featuring James Poyser on keyboards, Pino Palladino on bass, Ahmir Questlove Thompson on drums, Roy Hargrove on trumpet, Jacques Schwarz-Bart on saxophone and Frank Lacy on trombone.

50/105 flatwounds (from 2003!) and C/F/Bb/Eb tuning; As far as I know, this is the only recording where Pino used that particular tuning (Anthony Jackson had previously used it on Chaka Khan's Naughty back in 1980)

  • Mortel Monsieur....Bravo.

  • Fjord, great job on this one, in particular the tuning (now it makes sense for me). Would you mind spelling the chords/chord tones for this one (colors included) too? Thank you very much in advance!

  • @TheBonneMaman you're in luck: that's one of my all-time fav :)

  • @snubbs741 i've been listening to jazz from the womb but it really reached me in my 20's: I listened to Kind Of Blue and it changed my whole music perception for ever...I love all of 'em doublers but mister PC is THE cat, as far as i'm concerned.

  • @Fjord76 Nice, I'm glad you mentioned Ron, Paul, Mingus, Ray Brown and all the classic upright cats. you got talent and a great tone

  • damn i hope i get this good one day! you glidin' up and all over this...

  • Superb technique. Great to see someone using all 4 fingers properly for some beastly intervals. Well done!

  • Your tone is so smooth and enveloping.

It just draws you in and flows like liquid!

  • @Fjord76 Man, I've been on a Bill Evans binge lately and it's great to see that you also dig Scott LeFaro. I've got a lot of homework to do here, but i'm glad to see that you've mentioned jazz, stax, d'angelo guys, hendrix guys, james brown guys, prince guys, and just about everyone in between.
