The first time I heard this song, I thought, "Damn, the drum machine is so cheesy, and the sax playing is subpar!" The second time I heard it, I thought, "Damn, this is one of the best songs I've ever heard." And I still think that!

Possibly my favourite Ultravox tune, don't know though there is a lot to choose from, Foxx's creative lyrics left an indelible mark on me.

This is simply experimental/electronic rock. Throw away silly labels like "post-punk". Post-punk isn't a practical term.

Dudes.it's Rock and Roll...chill and enjoy

it's 1977 this is NOT post punk, it's that experimental display that several other bands from the time were treating us with, though not often.....Ultravox couldn't really allign with punk ideology but were embraced by some of the punk contingent ......Ultravox were too intelligent in subject, delivery, and style than punk, neither's better, they're just different-- I mean "My Sex" from the PREVIOUS year is miles from punk, they were writing at a higher intellectual level from day one.

Foxx's lyrics are amazing, god I wish he'd stayed with Ultravox and gone on to get the recognition this band deserved. I like the later stuff but it feels lightweight compared to the complexity of the first albums. Commercial success followed but sadly their creativity did decline too.

I love this track. Every time I hear it I'm reminded of how much it sounds like early Roxy Music. The sax, the vocal stylings - terrific!

Post punk? This was released during punk's beginnings.

@gevansmd Yes it's true what you say, but this song sounds so different from punk, don't you think so?

@thestamp59 I'd call it proto-new wave alt punk hahaha oh genres

@Catbral ... or is it a simply post-former-proto punk remake with an influence from a pre-new wave ska with a house-techno rap-like ascendant ? I think really good music can hardly be trapped into a label, even though any song has taken something from the time in which it was made. I originally placed this "label" on these Ultravox songs, maybe wrong or right I don't know, to make it clear that they were so much different from the later Ultravox songs like Dancing with tears in my eyes.
