Honestly speaking, these were the nicest looking elevators I've filmed in Manhattan (so far). These are the hotel-area Schindler 700's in the Hilton TS. These are 700's (from 2000) which is why they don't have the 500A chimes (although they do have the 500A floor indicator). Anyways they're fast and some real innovation went into the cab design - lighting up the rear cab wall and the frames of the shaft doors is really cool looking. Their only problem is that they tend to bounce and rattle as they move.
Brand: Schindler
Installed: 2000
Machine: Gearless Traction
Floors Served: *L, CC, 23 - 44
Fixtures: MT
Fear/DT Index: Low. Cabs rattle and bounce/shake a bit.
I tried to ride these tonight, but there were security guards that had them blocked off. They asked me where I was going, and I just said I was walking through to 41st. This was by the AMC theatres, perhaps I was in the wrong hotel? It said Hilton Times Square and the lobby was real small, and I only saw 2 elevators. It didnt seem right, I'll have to go back and look again. It was on 42nd between 8th and 7th.

No, you were at the right place. Hmm, Hilton usually isn't that "oppressive." Go during the day.
Those 2 elevators you saw are the entrance elevators that go up to the lobby.
