All graphics I used are only placeholders for testing.
This is just some experimental stuff I'm working on in my spare time.

I mainly started this as a test, to see if it's even possible to make a game in javascript, where you can move around in realtime, and not on a grid-based system.

I managed to make it run smoothly in both chrome and Firefox. IE is still pretty slow, but I'm sure the code can still be optimized... a lot.

So if you have any tips or ideas, feel free to let me know :)

  • Really great ! Do you use Node.JS and Socket.IO ? Ajax seems to be too slow for MMO, maybe you're using some kind of AJAX push :)

  • @trainingmax Thank you! Yeah this vid is pretty old by this time. I eventually moved to node.js and socket.io :)

By now I also got fullscreen, 60fps, animations, pathfinding, new graphics, a more action-based battle system, day/night cycle, etc etc... Maybe I'm gonna post an update soon.

  • RPG Maker vx Sprite :P

Of you made it without RPG Maker--Great!!

  • @handman98 Hehe exactly :) Thanks!

  • Oh btw you gonna make it live ever???

  • @XXFailzzzXX This prototype: Probably not. The game itself: Still needs a lot of work. I would need at least another coder and artist. So if anyone is interested, send me a message ;)

  • Hey dude, check your inbox (:

  • @xerethas That would be great man :)

I'm also using socket.io, really easy to use and great fallback !

And i'm also workin on a html5 mmorpg game :) I got the same features as you (that's funny lol) but i prefer to run it with 30 fps (except for animation), who seems to be adequate for RPG game but that's an other debate ^^

  • What you create this nice effect on the map screen?

  • I would love to help you man!

  • echt geil...i would help you...XD
