Aren't most electronics throw-away now days? Look at cell phones? Mine is so small I can barely hold it in my hand. It's reliable as heck too. Hasn't failed in 9 years and I carry it in my shirt pocket doing manual labor. I've done SM soldering under a magnifier but come on...these things are micro small. Hows anyone going to repair them? What is the future going to be like for electronics technicians? Who's hiring? It's all made overseas and is obsolete before it needs repair.

Alright, going to be earning my associates in Electronics Technology. I am hopeing to earn a job as a electronics technician or something different (* i don't know what jobs the degree qualifies for *). Hopefully later I can transfer my degree to a pub university and earn a bachelors in electronics engineering or something cool.

Sorry Agave, I strongly disagree. A great American company. Many members of my family worked for this company from the 50's on. I am proud to see the MSA emblem.

This is such bullshit, I did this for five years and got bored with it. Earnings potential is low as well.
A technician designing critical electrical instruments? that's scary. This instruments should only be design by engineers not technicians.

@nullt0ne Dustin mentions he builds and maintains the instruments, not that he designs them.
