This was a BIG HELP. Thank you!
The assembly on a 2004Toro was slightly different from this design. The main difference was that there was NO WAY to get the rope through the tiny inside hole. However, I heated the rope up well past melting, drew it into a thinner and stiffer thread, and then when I lined the holes up, it almost dove in. Also, on mine, the rope had to be threaded though the plastic engine cover before releasing the tension or else you'd have to re-tie the handle end.

@1G0TP1NK8C1DB00TS0N9 I would say that's likely the case with the one I just broke. This is like the 5th time I've used the trimmer. The cord is frayed rather badly. I'm assuming it's because I'm holding it wrong when I go to start it, pulling it sideways as opposed to straight out. Going to check the manual for a picture of someone starting it to make sure I'm doing it correctly.

I just snapped the pull cord from my snow blower. Watched this video and got it re-attached and working. Thanks a lot Craig

So I did everything you said, reassembled the lawn mower and now it pulls about 5 inches and locks. Any idea's?

i didnt get the part about rotating the pulley, cuz at the same time you're also locking it with your thumb. plz clarify thats would be great

The same method can be done on a Briggs engine shroud. You just need one of those large bar clamps
