A visit to Bletchley Park National Codes Centre on 13.5.08 by members of Chippenham Probus Club and their guests.
A fascinating insight into the ways German 'Enigma' secret messages were read in World War Two along with a demonstration of 'Colossus' the first electronic digital computer.

  • It sure is a bargain. Thanks for pointing up the need for donations.

  • You forget that the Park does not get any Government funding and, therefore, has to make money where it can!! It is also one of the Charities that nobody is asked to contribute to if they don't want - no collection boxes in the shopping centres and no door-to-door!

Many of the collections at the Park are privately owned and run by their owners who, in many cases, can only get there at week-ends because of other commitments. It IS the best value for money around - £10 for a whole year's visits!

  • The gift shop there was a joke, they had a 3.5 inch square wallet that was £12. The man who had the little toy squirrel was a scream though, and all those vintage cars in the garage were shut off when I went, although I saw the radiator of one through a gap in the doors. Overall a good day out
