I've been there twince. And each time it was a very emotional experience.
A shame that your father did not have the chance to see his fathers photo at the Tyne Cot visitors centre.
They also published a book about some of the men burried at Tyne Cot.
It's called Passchendaele the story of the death and Tyne Cot Cemetery by
Franky Bostyn. In this book you can read the stories of the lifes of some of the men burried there. Its a beautiful book.

Springs warm breeze blows through your stones Listen, can you hear the moans Of soldiers dying in he field They gave no quarter, did not yield Twelve thousand men lie in this ground Eight thousand men with names not found Beneath the alter of sacrifice These men who paid wars bloody price Past walls of names with graves unknown I walk with brothers of my own I feel the tears upon my face As I walk through this hallowed place. By Paul Brennan. Dublin 2006.

@Brynybaal I have visited Tyne Cott cemetery and I must tell you that it was the most poignant place I have ever been in. I salute your grandfather and hope that his death was a peaceful one. He lies with his brothers at his side and you should take some comfort in that.

Thank you for posting this video. One day I hope to visit Europe, stand and be humbled on the hallowed ground that so many died on - fighting for their country, friends, family and above all Freedom.
Do they have photographs of each soldier who is being remembered at Tyne Cot? I have a photo of a soldier who is being remembered on the Wall at Tyne Cot (Don't know the correct name for the Wall) and I am almost sure that they don't have a photograph of him.

@Eleanorfan1992 I don't know. Maybe try and contact the Commonwealth War Graves Commission via Google and send them an email. Not sure if they can add photographs to the wall but you can only ask. Good luck.

Very moving. My grandfather - Thomas Jolly, aged 36, appears at the start. His death left my father and his brother and sisters as orphans. My father, who died in 2007 aged 101, would have been so proud of the video. I have the same photograph.

@Brynybaal Not sure if you have been to Tyne Cot but this video plays inside the small museum at the entrance to the cemetery. Its a very simple idea but it works so well.
And quite a coincidence that your Grandfather was named first. I was in the museum about 15 minutes and I don''t think the loop repeated. The clip says age unknown. Wonder why the War Graves Commision don't know that?
