I really like that you took the time to share this video with the community I hope he made it I have been wanting a red devil but after seeing this I am having doubts that poor animal is attacked for no reason by that mean fish but they are an aggressive species I think I might just keep tropical fish I would have to do some thinking on it.

I had a male Texas Cichlid that had the same wound on the both sides, thing is though it wasn't by a Midas/red devil. It was caused by 4 other cichlids I have in a 125 gallon.Usually Midas's can tolerate tank mates that are not threatening to them, then again its a hit or a miss with any cichlid

I guess you didn't value your Pictus cat very much if you put a Red Devil in with it. Would you put a lion into a sheep pen then give him "time out" for killing a sheep? haha, silly Girl.

did ur pictus die??

Please tell me you didn`t leave him to suffer like that for any great length of time, he`s clearly very stressed and very ill
That's a female fish keeper for you, uninformed and a lack of foresight. You are responsible for the death of that Pictus. Amateurs often get tank compatability wrong, I blame our schools and maybe the parents in this case. Maybe in the future you will think things through silly girl.

@captainlanks If you read the comment I posted previously you will see that they lived together for three years in that exact tank. I was given these fish by a friend, so the pairing was not my choice. I really do love how people jump to conclusions about another's intellect or understanding on a subject. Of course it must be easy to act pretentious on the internet, as we are all fairly anonymous here, aren't we? Also, just what exactly does being female have to do with it?

The Pictus Cat & Red Devil were coinhabitants in that tank without any issues for 3 years. What gall you have to dub me as a 'silly girl'. Everyone is so quick to judge when they know nothing themselves about the situation. The Pictus cat was twice the size of the Red Devil Cichlid, which is why they never had problems in the past. Not to mention that I successfully performed surgery on the pictus cat using aneasthetics, please continue telling me I know nothing. I love it, you bloody dolt.

After the surgery he was getting better. Then about a week into healing and making progress I discovered him vertical with the giant pleco latched onto his side. That evening he died. :(

I treated him with regular doses of Melafix, he started was starting to get better and actually starting to swim around. Then he got a fungal infection, and I had to do surgical removal of the tissues infected as it was a massive bloom of infection in the span of basicallky overnight. He started to heal again and then after about one week of successful progression of recovery the Plecostamus latched onto his side and now the Pictus Cat is deceased.
