Today I'm trying out .45 ACP shotshells in my Rock Island Armory M1911-A1 Tactical for the first time.

Filmed using a Nikon D3100 with the 18-55mm kit lens at 1080p (24 fps).

  • Do they cycle reliably with a standard recoil spring?

  • @adam731432 Yes, I was using the standard recoil spring in this video.

  • Looks like a nice pattern for 15'. I'd say that'd be a good home defense round for the .45 as well. Don't have to worry about entering another house, but would incapacitate an intruder with a shot in the face.

  • @poscoepete I would actually argue against using this for any kind of home or self defense. The shot is very small so unless you hit the bad guy right in the eye you're only going to make him angry. I load Speer Gold Dot hollow points for self defense.
