If I sign up to get emails but the company or group sends an excessive amount I typically will unsubscribe.

What about the "newsletter" or "Advertising" emails, that I have never signed up to, but it has an "unsubscribe" option in the bottom?

Every Facebook app that comes in my notifications saying things such as "Ken has sent you a tree on DeforestationVille" etc gets blocked and a spam notification from me. I consider that to be spam. I don't want a tree. Facebook is for social interaction not for sending trees!
