Obviously a very good choir, and a quite good performance (a few flat intonations) of this beautiful music, but a very amateurish recording in this large acoustics.

One of the most stunning pieces of music written - also helped by the fact that I have some personal memories attached to it being the first solo piece i sang - in norwich cathedral no less - talk about a baptism of fire...

I used to believe that Mendelssohn provided nothing but pleasant, soothing music - until I heard this great choral piece. And I immediately fell in love with it. Later, my choir performed it - which means that you get to know it 'from the inside out'.
I want to compliment you about your performance, that is beautifully sung, in a considerate tempo (taking the time that the music needs), dynamic, and the voices blend well together.
The choir deserves a better audio recording, though.
