  • a two foot current, if moving fast enough, can easily knock a person off their feet, sweep them away, and drown them. Never underestimate the power of moving water....after all, it did carve the Grand Canyon.

  • i called a random number in the Kuril Islands

and said exactly what that guy said, word for word in their language.

  • BTW, according to some sources, in Severo-Kurilsk (Paramushir Island), the second wave was 18 meters (!) high. Almost 3,000 people were killed on that island. About 300 survived...

  • で、このカムチャツカ地震、周期は100年程度とされています。1737年(M8.3)、1841年(M8.6)、1952年(M9.0)です。次は2040年から2060年前後に発生が予想されているので気をつけましょう。特にハワイ。

  • The dude in white was like "see ya, there is a tsunami happening".

  • The tsunami generated by this earthquake on November 4, 1952 not only destroyed the city of Severo-Kurilsk and lots of villages and caused more than 2500 deaths. I was surprised to learn that in Hawaii, property damage from these waves was estimated at $800,000-$1,000,000 (1952 dollars)
