This was one of the first clips I edited to show the folks in Dumas and Sunray, Texas. This is a rough compilation of clips from the documentary. Not intended to be used for promotion - but fun to watch!
The father of one of my uncles died in this disaster, as well as a number of Mom and Dad's friends and neighbors. My maternal grandparents often talked about this with us. I was one and half years old at the time. According to all, it was like an earthquake. My Uncle Mac was superintendent at that refinery until he retired and my cousin Jerry works for the company now. Monuments stand at Sunray and Dumas for the people who lost their lives in it.
The memorials that were in Sunray have been taken down. I don't know if they are going to be relocated but they no longer stand in Sunray.

It's scary that it could happen again, my Dad works there now, and I pass there every day on my way to work.
