Most of GH2's different timing window comes from the angle of the fretboard (imo). Also if I'm not mistaken I believe the back end window for RB is a bit tighter than GH2's.
I'm almost certain they changed the window on RB2, because there is shit on that game (IAS chorus 2, sleepwalker solo, better chorus 3, etc.) that isn't too hard, but I'd never be able to do them on GH2's window.
