Fighting for gay rights in Lebanon

Lebanon is often presented as the exception in the Middle East -- liberal, multi-confessional, with a booming nightlife and expansive cultural offerings. But for gays and lesbians, it seems its still risky to display their sexual preference.

It's sad that in a country like Lebanon where a lot of liberal thinkers live, many gays are still struggling to get their rights and thus be able to come out from the closet without having the fear to be condemned by both society and laws. However, it's uplifting to see these brave men and women demonstrating in the streets of Beirut to achieve their simple right of being gay.
