Purple Rhododendron and Mountain Laurel are still in bloom around 5,000 feet in early June on the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina.. Rock dome is Looking Glass near Brevard, in Transylvania County.
Videoing with new HD Panasonic HMC-150, with 24 meg/sec Mpeg-4 stream on SDHC media. 1080p at 30fps, with cine settings (dynamic stretch). Upload file is WMV HD 720p - 6meg/sec.
This is a fantastic camera for the price and economy of use. Great low light, esp in cine mode - also shoots 24p fps native. Panasonic has software to upconvert H.264 files to huge DVC Pro HD files for high end editing/compositing.

  • I'll never forget discovering alllllll those Rhodies on the Blue Ridge Parkway. My girlfriend had me pull over on the Blue Ridge to use the camping bathroom. As I was waiting for her on the highway I discovered I was in front of a Rhododenddron. I couldn't believe there was one growing waaaay up there! Of course I gradually realized there were thousands upon thousands of Rhodies for miles on end up there!! They were EVERYwhere! I'd love to see them in bloom during Spring! WOW! Surreal!!
