The most fascinating part of this video is the cut-in. This became very normal in later cinema, but was pretty rare at the time. The cut-in is one of the earliest forms of analytical editing and very important for the continuity editing!

Fun fact: the close up is actually one of a man's leg. Apparently this is true, though for the life of me I can't think of a reason why Edison would have done it.
