  • the fact that this video has 20 000 views and a stupid Britney Spears has over 4 millions, says a lot about the society we live in and about people in general . that aside, Mr. Alfred Brendel is undoubtedly one of the greatest minds and talents we have had the privilege to admire.

Thank you for posting this documentary!

  • My god there's a lot of shit written on this page. Just for brass tacks - Brendel is unique, insightful and a great performer

  • 5 'dislikes' are either trolls or scumbag steves.

  • @RODOLFITO2241 Don't be sad about of our musical taste, we are making a certain developement. And if half a billion likers would press the button for Brendel, I would get doubts about him. Listen what he has to tell at 5.09

  • Classic music will stand the test of time whereas modern will not.

  • The comment above sumps it up: BS 4 million, A Brendel less than 50,000 views.

Sad state of the musical taste in the 21st century ...say no more....and yet the BBC Proms command huge audiences. Not sure if there is an answer...get Britney Spears to say that classical music is cool?

  • I read that he was self taught. Incredible.

  • And before anyone writes anything I know Taubman's not a he. Typo.. Nothing against her and her teachings, as I have no direct experience of them But the whole thing simply isn't that straightforward. Everything about Brendel is individualistic including his technical approach. It's worked marvellously well for him to date, and he's 80.

  • Possibly that is what he means. But they're not. Who says so?

  • @Eichenwald144 i think what callenishss means is that all techniques are based on the fundamental concepts of drop arm and rotate arm enough so that there is no tension but there are tiny variations and that alfred brendel is on the less safe side. oh well...

  • @callenishss

I've read some pretty silly comments on youtube over the years, but this takes somes beating. Are you really serious? Brendel played concerts from, what was it, 1948 until 2008 of a more or less consistently amazing standard. His technique barely, if ever, let him down in all that time. And who was "Taubman" exactly? Yes, I know who he was, but you get what I mean... Possibly time for a little re-think?
