Edward Woodward was a Great Actor and a True Gentleman, I had occassion to meet Mr. Woodward in New York City during the shooting of an Equalizer episode. I was the Emergency Medical Technician on the that particular episode. He was very gracious, he shook my hand. I told him how I loved his portrayal of Merlin in Merlin and the Sword. I was so saddened to hear of his death. He will always be my Merlin.

That great show, The Equalizer, was such a perfect show for Edward Woodward! He was so good in that role! One of my favorite shows ever! The crap they put out today does not even compare to The Equalizer!

Edward Woodward was one of the finest actors of his generation, every part he played he did so convincingly. Nobody did 'menace' as well as EW, eg Callan & Robert McCall. He made a very convincing hardman, despite not being very tall, or large in build. In both characters cases, he really did convey the idea that he was ready, willing & able to punch an opponant in the throat with lethal force!

RIP Mr Woodward.
And may God allow you live long, Mr Valentine(or Baron Adelbert Gruner).

If you want a real treat watch the great Australian film "Breaker Morant".
A classic with the glorious Edward showing us how good he was at his craft, as usual!
The other main actors also shine in this film but don't quite manage to outshine Ted!
I doubt if anyone manages to watch the end without tears in their eyes!
It is on YouTube so watch and maybe it will be one of your all time favourites too!

Edward Woodward and Anthony Valentine - two great actors. Absolutely wonderful in Callan.

R.I.P Mr. Woodward.
The Equalizer still flashes the screen with your great acting skills and the powerfull 80s Synthesizer tunes.
"Got a problem, need help, odds against you, Call The Equalizer".

@alanstarkie2001 Common as muck was about a council refuse (garbage) department that was being privatised. Also starred Tim Healey. It was a Comedy drama broadcast late evening due to the adult nature of the show. the song Ghost riders in The Sky was often quoted by the lads..
