God, isn't she beautiful! Beyond belief isn't it? I find it so hard to comprehend why she doesn't have the same effect on everyone, as she does on those of us who say... well, we say the same thing really, in our different ways: Laura's beautiful music affects us like no-one else does. One of my top 5 favs of Laura Nyro. I don't think any female singer/songwriter of the last 20 years can touch her, nope, not anyone......"winds caress, undress, invite....." Love Proverty Train equally, We would drive around & listen to her on the eight track. Singing at the top of our lungs, such fun

@TeeOhDoubleDizzle I was just thinking how Laura reminded me of Joni mitchel ;Court and Spark my fav especially-LAura Nyro -the best are often found behind the scenes; within an ensemble~we all have our parts in this passion play-Glad I got to hear Laura Nyro sing and perform hers...

@TeeOhDoubleDizzle Yup, Tod, Joni, and lots of other great Artists were inspired by Laura - and I now realize that's one of the reasons I've always liked them. The frustrating part is, THEY all got tons of radio airplay, but Laura got virtually boycotted. I wonder if maybe David Geffen figured he could make more money by farming her songs out to several Artists, instead of promoting just her. There had to be some seedy behind the scenes politics going on.

@Lovemylovething I agree. The same thing goes for Todd Rundgren's music beyond his few hits. These two were friends back in the day and had a mutual understanding of music with soul. TR was heavily influenced by her and was/is very vocal about it...and obviously so was Joni Mitchell. I didn't know that until more recently. Now, when I listen to Court & Spark and The Hissing of Summer Lawns, two of my all-time faves, I think of Laura now. She is an absolute treasure.

Wonderful, mysterious, gorgeous song by Laura, she continues to amaze me with each(new to me)track I hear. I really don't understand why FM radio didn't pick up on this when it was released. I can understand AM radio wanting more popish kiddie kinda stuff back then, but this really could, and should have been HUGE on FM.

I wish they'd have played it , I guarantee I would have become a fan of her's much, much earlier.

i was working one day and these words popped out by themselves ...........such tenderness, love and beauty .

My co-workers could never imagined the context, i just said they are from a very poetic song.

they know i am a writer , so perhaps they have stopped wondering........
