The Contour knobs add more of a "scooped" tone with a brighter hi-end and a more defined bottom. Not that hard to figure out really.

I have the 5:50 as well with the same complaint. Try switching out the first 2 position 12AX7's to Mullard's. That should help. I did that and also hot modded it with Mercury transformers, and all new Sozo caps, and wow, now it actually sounds like a 1500.00 amp and better. Good luck

@jsabo1929 Thanks jsabo I appreciate that. The Electra Dyne has been (just my opinion) the best sounding amp they've ever put out, however I ended up getting the Fractal Audio Ultra and the Atomic amps. Haven't been able to my guitar down since and now I'm really hooked :)

it hisses less now that i put SPAX7's in it (mesa's specialty low-noise tube). it still hisses, just a lot less. i love this amp though. the SPAX7's did more than just mellow out the buzz. im improved ALL of the OD sounds, including burn mode.

Bought the Express 5:50 'n right out of the box I noticed how both channels make quite an alarming hissing noise! Especially channel 2. Bought it from Sweetwater so they sent me a tube to try and narrow down the problem. Didn't work. Called Mesa Boogie and Marcus said normally channel one is the one that hisses. They actually said that! WTF? Yeah, I just threw down $1517 for a Bronco Tan P.O.S. So what I want to know is, does anyone out there own an express? If so does it hiss? Thanks.

I sat through this whole video thinking I would hear this amp. If I wanted someone to sell my amps, I would at the very least have the salesman turn the amp on.
