The first time I was ever in a plane that landed on Lifuka I was sitting in the front seat, in the middle of a Royal Tongan DHC-6 Twin Otter. Just before touchdown, I could see the whole damn runway with a lot of blue water on each end. It's not a landing for the squeamish.

The coolest thing is when the airplane finshes landing, and turns... you see the other end of the runway... which is the end of the island! this long island is cut through the middle by the airport from one side to the other!
it has to be one of the coolest airports i've ever seen, along with lukla in nepal.
