How to repair a broken USB flash drive.
I re-soldered the connector and covered it with epoxy putty to protect it.

  • i've got a logitech headset which was once yanked from my laptop's port. the silver part is the only part that is damaged, it used to work if you jiggled it around while it was in the port until it hit the right spot, but now it doesn't work at all. does this video still apply? if not, could you send me a link? thank you kindly.

You need to disassemble the laptop and replace the 3.5mm audio jack. you can get these for less than a pound in any electronic components store. It's very easy if you know how to disassemble the laptop, and practise a bit with the solder iron.

  • RTFM is an initialism for the direction "Read The Fucking Manual". This instruction is sometimes given in response to a question when the person being asked believes that the question could be easily answered by reading the relevant "manual" or instructions....

  • @ToXiCKiiiD Very good. You get a sticker.

  • so if the head is all that is broken, the information stored is still good?

  • @KindaAwesomeVideos1 Exactly.

  • @Lauraarguello34 same here

  • @sunbl0ck I tried doing what you showed and it didn't work. It doesn't look like there's any metal where the 4 connectors contact on the green board, almost like it got ripped off attached to the 4 connectors. Is that my problem? If it is, would you recommend trying to take out the old memory card and put it in a new flash drive? Thanks.

  • please i need to know how to fix my dead usb. it's kodak 8gb and the led light doesn't even turn on when i connect it to my laptop.... it is totally dead. i've been thinking about fixing it by opening my usb but i dont know how to do it exactly so i can make it work, please sunbl0ck or anybody else if you know how to help me let me know please

  • my usb flash drive broke almost a year ago. I cried because I have so much valuable information on that thing. I came across this video and I'm gonna try this. I really hope it works.

I'm not good with this kind of stuff but if it means getting all my files back, i'll give it a try!

    Thanks for posting.
