Micro cars can give motorists top-notch fuel efficiency at a competitive price, but the insurance industry says they don't fare too well in collisions with larger vehicles. (April 14)
For various reasons, small cars are less likely to be involved in serious accidents. Their drivers tend to be more careful and drive more slowly BECAUSE they're in a very small car.
Of course a larger car will be "safer" than a smaller car. The laws of Physics say so. A good way of being safer is to drive in the speed limit and be respectful of the other cars around you.
Even if you're in a little Kia/Hyundai whatever, that seems to work. :)
yeah right most not all hybrids don't get more mpg than those small cars. the nano gets 55 mpg. highest i've seen in comercials is 45 for a hybrid and they are also small cars. big cars barely get 33 and the ones that do better we can't afford or aren't avilable for us regular people to purchase. and of course a larger car will always do huge damage to those small ones they said the small ones weigh about 300 to 1000 pounds. if your that worried about safety get a monster truck or a semi.
Would you walk around in a rubber suit simply because there is a chance you will get hit by lightning? This video suggests we should be driving semi trucks in case we run into another monster truck. I don't think we need to be driving 4 ton SUVs for the remote chance we get into a crash with another one. In Europe where most cars on the raod are smaller, this video doesn't make sense.

Talk about conflicting information! In the "More From: AssociatedPress" box there's a video called: "IIHS: Small Cars Making Strides in Safety"
