@marinello6 5 While I applaud anyone concerned with abolishing or restructuring our prison system, the whole 'prison-industrial-complex' issue seems to me to be a red herring in most situations. Only 8% of all prisons in the US are private and most of that growth came after the initial decision to incarcerate massive numbers of minority and impoverished persons. Obviously, it varies; arizona has a massive industry that is supporting most of its current draconian policy.

amendment 8.
"excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted."
democracy works, problem is, we've never really had one.

resisting arrest is not enough reason to go to jail.

I applaud w/you sir....It is in our nature to question and/or resist unjust treatment...

You say probably 90%, I say probably 3%, probably 5.77%, or probably 1%. Where do we go from here?
And did you count the gangs? WOW! You must have a lot of time on your hands...

@ItalianMan45 I agree with the comment from jungcitybandit in the sense that she is intelligent and fearless. She is however, human and has made many, many mistakes in judgement over the decades. Often her head is in an Ivory Tower and she has too many groupies that do not question or analyze her enough. People should listen to her but not make her into a God that they do not question! She rarely seems to listen to others...THEY TOO HAVE THEIR STORY!

@nowellian you want government involvement and then you dont........wtf? How about shutting down the government entirely. The truth is, we need to go back to our roots and destroy these retarded politicians. We dont need them let the people rule themselves
she spent time in jail for being more than just a hippie protester. none of the things she was in jail for were realistic or credible reasons for being in prison. She is the epitome of bad ass. Highly intelligent and Fearless!

End the war on drugs! Stop trying to legislate morality!
How about some freedom!
How about a living wage, not for profit universal health care, and peace and justice.
Maybe because our government is criminal it influences more people to not care!
