How to create a fixed eye in 3/8 Amsteel Blue. This is for trail repairs when you have limited access to tools and materials. The process is the same for any diameter Amsteel Blue other than different bury lengths. 5/16 would be 13", 3/8 would be 16", 7/16 would be 18.5". I have tested this extensively using half of each suggested bury length in a locked brummel and all have held while the failure occurs in the line. I would suggest replacing the whipping with the lock stich, or performing a locked brummel when you return from your trip.

  • I had a brain fart when I did this video. The proper bury lengths, which will be your first mark measurements are as follows.....

    5/16 = 19.75"

    3/8 = 23.75"

  • Hello,

I will be using amsteel 1/2" for a life support system. Can you post a video or tell me where I can find how to stitch and secure a fixed eye splice in amsteel so it won't come undone, even in extreme situations?

  • i just bought a amsteel winch cable ita 3/16 and you tell me how to make the eye like you did on this one

  • Great video. Thanks!

  • a very informative video, I use a zig zag stitch with some small shock cord to finish it off. we also use a tube thimble when it is for use with amsteel blue, that way, the thimble can't drop out of the eye if the rope gets stretched. cheers
