Today (Feb 26) is my son, Tom's, birthday. Less than three weeks before he was born I watched this show, likely on our brand-new 9" black and white television in our tiny apartment in Hallock MN. If memory serves, my wife was already in the hospital with complications from the kidney disease that took her life only two years later, at age 22. Thanks for bringing back the memories: they're what we have.

I was nine. My parents called us into the room to watch. My mom told us, "This is important. This group is going to change music forever." It was the only time I ever remember my mother making any kind of prediction like that. Looking back, I think of all the ways their musicianship, style, music and lyrics have done exactly that, and I wonder how people can come on here and argue about them being "just a pop group," and whether or not they could read music.
