I hate CarMax. I worked there for five years, and I'm here to tell you, it is a horrible company. They treat employees like garbage, and CarMax is a ripoff.

@LifesaGardenDigit1 i like it so far just finished my first week of work and its pretty sweet, i work in the inventory dept. part time gets school reimbursement and if u have a kid needing to be in daycare, i believe they ave a savings account to fund for that. ppl are very very nice, and for the pay, it beats anything that u worked previously that paid same or less. plus every year there is a dollar plus raise the longer u stay

being in the business and watching carmax buy cars for the last 15 years at the auction, it is just amazing. No one in their right mind would buy from them unless you are a meek person with half a brain. Typically you can buy a brand new car for close to what they charge for their used rental cars. Also with the right amount of money, you can make the public believe anything. Please do your hw and buy somewhere else. They are the biggest ripoff in automotive history.

I bought a car there as well in 2004. I will never forget the pleasant experience it was. I hope to buy another car from ther soon

Surprised by the negative comments. I have purchased two vehicles from Carmax - and sold one to them. Prices are much fairer than dealers and they generally give a good amount for trades. And there are no games - if you don't like the prices you can walk away - no games - no hiding your keys from you - and no managers pressuring you. To top it off - their prices are good for 7 days - so you can go there, then shop around, if you can't find anything better you can come back.

how do you know this? i had bought a 2002 honda civic from them when i had got it in 04 car was still nice now in 2009 car has 140.000 miles still runs good so what was so wrong with your car? o yeah it only had 34.000 miles when i bought it

Carmax is generally a rip off - also having bought a vehicle from Carmax, I can say with certainty that their 120 point inspection is a joke.

Also, Carmax hires contractors to fix cars if the repair is even remotely more complicated than changing oil.

You get Jagmaxed at carmax, thats why they are in such trouble right now, people are catching on.
