My grandfather William Hardiman was born in Clydagh, County Galway, on St. Patrick's Day (or so he claimed), 1891. Galway is where the historian James Hardiman spent his adult life. He may be my very great uncle. The story goes that the slip jig "Hardiman the Fiddler" was named for him as gratitude for writing his history of Irish Minstrelsy in 1831. I don't know if I'm in James' line, but I know I like this tune and I'm struck by the fact that when I first heard it I had a deja vu because I wrote something similar years before ever hearing it--a jig I now call Planxty Galway. Note: Planxty Galway is copyrighted by me, but I'll be easy on good people.

  • @themachinist1000 Thanks for the good word--great stuff on your channel as well. You're right about Hardiman the Fiddler--I play it in DADGAD. The second song (my tune Planxty Galway) is different.

  • Great stuff man! Are you in drop D or DADGAD there? Or are you playing it in standard in E? Awesome playing
