Gulen Movement Conference in DC

And today marked the first day of the conference. Moderated by Dr. Sally Ann Baynard of Georgetown University, the conference featured Dr. John Esposito who said in his welcoming remarks that Gulen brought many original ideas to the world but education was the most astonishing of all.

At the conference organized by Georgetown University academics from around the world will tackle the contributions made by Turkish scholar Fethullah Gulen to interfaith dialog and peace. More than 40 academics mainly from the US are attending the conference.

Espisoto said for Gulen Movement, "Best movement in Islam in the last century.."

Dr. John Espesito said in his welcoming remark: "What affects me most in the Gulen Movement is the way and method he uses in education. Schools around the world give first class education in the same fashion. While all the new developments and technology of the contemporary life are given Islamic values and ethics are taught. This is most important to me. The reason is, please pay attention, Gulen does not only gives message he also does something. We can feel the effects of this not only in Turkiye, Central Asia or Europe but now in the US."Esposito added that the world now needs Islam being told through an eminent educational perspective more than ever. Dr. Esposito also said I believe this is the best movement in Islam in the last century.

The moderator of the Gulen Conference, Dr. Sally Ann Baynard of Georgetown University, said Turkiye has to invite Fethullah Gulen, in the most chivalrous way, back to his country.

"For me the Gulen Movement tries to make one understanding other religions through one's own deep faith and prevent misunderstandings."

"Besides, Gulen is a man who loves his country and is bound to his country with stronger feelings and loyalty. Fethullah Gulen has a great love for the Republic of Turkiye. And I'm putting my skepticism and scientific standing aside before the love of this person, now I say that it is high time for this person to be invited to his country."

"Turkiye has to invite Turkish Scholar Fethullah Gulen, in the most chivalrous way, to his country."

Dr. Baynard, who drew the attention to the illness and age of Gulen said "I'm sure people will have odes after Fethullah Gulen but it will be very late. Look at him he's now sick and old before too late Turkiye has to invite Gulen in an honorable way.
