This is a cover of Athletic, found in Super Mario World for the Super Nintendo. Super Mario World was my first video game ever, and I have always loved Mario since. I was a little afraid to cover any of the songs in the game, for fear of not living up to them, but I can now live up to my expectations.

I realize there's a mix of this song in Super Mario Galaxy 2, and while I appreciate it for what it is (especially the sped up version when Yoshi eats a hot pepper), I prefer the simple ragtime piano and pianos of the original. So here's that mix. Make sure to listen out for the bongos!

I was going to experiment with the EQ in this song, to make it sound like a low-fi stereo, but decided that the original SNES song, in a way, portrays this. I faded the mix out of a few experimental EQs to demonstrate what I was playing around with.
