Bishop Harry Jackson, of Hope Christian Church in Beltsville, Maryland, held a small rally for his followers (at Freedom Plaza in Washington, DC) to protest the unanimous vote by the City Council to recognize same-sex marriages that have been legally performed in other states.

Several other preachers join them and repeatedly call gay marriages a perversion and closely associate gay sex and gay relationships with evil, immoral behavior such as incest and pedophilia. Numerous times Jackson and others say that same-sex marriage has nothing to do with civil rights, and that equating interracial marriage and the civil rights struggle of blacks is wrong and offensive.

This video features Family Research Council President, Tony Perkins, telling the crowd that he discusses gay marriage with his children at the dinner table, and purposefully confuses same-sex marriage with the separate debate over the use of public bathrooms by pre-operative transgenders people.

Several Hispanic and one Asian preacher show up briefly to declare marriage as between one man and a woman and that they will stand with Jackson's mostly African-American church at the City Council meeting on May 5, because the Council's expansion of marriage rights to same-sex couples is offensive and against their interpretation of Jesus' wishes and the Bible.

One preacher states that the state has no business in marriage. Another stutters that gay sex needs to be clearly explained to everyone's children because the though makes everyone sick to their stomach. "Children," "boys," and "girls" are repeatedly brought into these preacher's political speeches at the rally. They state that children need to be protected from the school systems because, as they claim, the children are being taught about gay marriage, and more specifically using the books "Heather Has Two Mommies" and "King and King" to do so.

Please also see Part 1 of this video to witness the use of "We Shall Overcome" as the anthem against gay marriage, Marion Barry chanting "No Same-Sex Marriage in DC," and other truly stunning statements.

  • "God"' should't hate somebody for loving. He should hate somebody for hating.

  • @0:22 "The state regulates marriage, but the church ordains marriage"

False. You can go to any court house in your neighborhood with you partner and get a marriage certificate completely without the consent of the church. Marriage no longer has to be done in a church or have anything to do with it.

  • Thanks for your stand, Bishop Jackson. :)

  • These people we so ashame of there hate years from now. Same sex marriage Now....Same sex marriage FOREVER!!

  • As a fifth generation Washingtonian I am embarrassed that this circus happened in DC...the end of the video is especially offensive. And Barry of ALL people included in this mess. The good Rev. needs to go back to PG County and mind his own business. I am sure there is Plenty going on in that County that needs his services and would keep him busy. Stay the f--k out of DC!

  • talk single ladies Datemedear.info

  • to all the anti gay blacks-you had to fight hard to get what you deserved in life too-to be treated with dignity and respect even tho you are black..now why can't you give gays that same respect you have been given.

  • this is disgraceful, bunch of fucking religious fascists, kinda makes me want to become atheist because after seeing this video i feel ashamed to be catholic. Who do they think they are dictating like that, if someone loves someone then they should be able to marry them whether they be gay, lesbian watever.

  • “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you (Matthew 7:12).”

  • Notice that in the end of the video there protest looked similiar to that of a white supremicist hahaha its kind of funny when you look at it
