Teen Shooting Suspect Arrested

DAL­LAS -​ Dal­las po­lice have ar­rest­ed a teenag­er for shoot­ing and killing a young as­pir­ing box­er.

Po­lice said 15-​year-​old Jer­son Ar­cha­ga was shot in the head last week out­side his home in the 9000 block of Grove Oaks Boule­vard.

Wit­ness­es told po­lice he ap­proached a car that had pulled up in front of the house and was shot.

He was tak­en to Bay­lor Hos­pi­tal where he lat­er died.

On Thurs­day po­lice ar­rest­ed a 16-​year-​old sus­pect for Ar­cha­gas mur­der. His name was not re­leased be­cause he is a mi­nor.

De­tails about a mo­tive in the case could be re­leased on Fri­day, po­lice said.

Friends and fam­i­ly said Ar­cha­ga was part of a po­lice-​spon­sored box­ing team. He was train­ing for an up­com­ing tour­na­ment.

Those who knew him be­lieve his death was a case of mis­tak­en iden­ti­ty.

There was noth­ing out of the or­di­nary. He was ap­par­ent­ly a good kid. He had no prob­lems with any­one and wasnt in any type of trou­ble, said Sr. Cpl. Kevin Janse.
